Printer goes through the motions but does not print. Print head is OK as I have an identical printer.

Presumably, inkjet.

You have probably tried swapping print cartridges -- presumably ones which contain a printhead, though there are some where the printhead is part of the printer.

If all the above is true it could be the pump which primes the head every time it parks itself at the end of the carriage OR it could be the chip on the mainboard which controls the printhead.

Just to be safe, if this isn't a USB printer, try swapping the printer cable.

I am having to guess here, as you can tell. So more detail is probably needed.
