MPEG2 Recording on STB tvpci

Does anyone know of a free programI can use to record MPEG2 format directly from my STB TVPCI tuner card? The only option I get in the menu is AVI format, which is too slow and cumbersome for recording high-resolution video.

Not sure what an STB is, but that may be all you hardware input device allows for input. Look at the owners manual to see what it supports.

STB is one of the worlds largest video card munufacturers.

MPEG2 compression is to processor intense to capture video directly to that format while maintaining quality on almost ANY processor. MJPG is a good capture format and that can be converted to MPEG2 using video editing software.
