Question MPV player change default volume

Hello i dl mpv (from here https://mpv.srsfckn.biz/)
and opened a video but the default volume is at 100% and its so loud how do i change it.so far i try to create a config file at AppData/roaming/mpv and in there i created a txt file with the name mpv.conf with only 1 line saying volume=20 but nothing happed.anyone can help please

Your syntax may be wrong if it's typed as shown in your post.

Try following syntax: --volume=<value>
