When I do a "save as" in Excel to change a file name the 1st time, everything is fine. If I do a "save as" again on the same file name, is gives me an error telling me that the file is write-protected (and it is not). Does anyone have any ideas? I have never seen this before. Is it a macro-virus of some sort or another new "hidden feature of microsoft" or what???????

Could well be a micro virus, but its more likely to be a bug with Excel, nothing suprises me, Did you know that the previous version of Excel had a flight sim in it?

I have no idea whether this is true, but I suspect Excel is keeping a live "temp" copy somewhere, which is stopping you from further access. Do you have the latest patches?
