MS Flight Simulator X complains about graphics card

Laptop configuration:
i7 5500 U
Intel HD Graphics 5500
NvidiaGeForce GTX 850M (4GB version)
16GB DDR3 RAM
120 GB m.2 SSD
2 TB HDD
FHD Touch Screen
Windows 8.1 64 Home edition (came pre-installed, did not upgrade to 10).

Problem description:
FSX works fine when I use the Intel graphics. But then if I select the Nvidia card for FSX (in Nvidia control panel) the game won't launch- It will show a message saying "FSX is not working with your video card. Make sure you have the latest drivers", Given that FSX is such an old game, even the oldest driver for my Nvidia card would be much newer than the game- why is it not working? Other games like Assassins Creed, FIFA,GTA-V, etc work fine with my card in medium quality FHD resolution. FSX won't even launch. FSX will work fine when launched with Intel HD graphics 5500, but perhaps it would perform better (better graphics quality) if i could get it to run on my Nvidia.. Any help?
