MS Intellimouse - Assigning Button ommands

I'm running WinXP and using a MS Intellimouse Explorer 3.0 w/ the latest drivers.

The latest MS drivers allows one to assign different commands to the mouse buttons for a specific application. In using my CAD program, Vectorworks I'd like to be able to assign Zoom In and Zoom Out to the mouse wheel itself. The MS software allows you to assign a command to the wheel BUTTON but not the wheel. Given that many graphic programs allow for the wheel to zoom in/out, does anyone know a workaround, registry hack or utility that would allow me to do this.

Thanks much;
Bob

Hey I just used Google Search, by typing "Zoom Mouse" ans saw some stuff that may be helpful to you. Such as <A HREF="http://www.cerca.umontreal.ca/vu/en/vuetnode3.html" target="_new">Translation</A> and <A HREF="http://www.gipsysoft.com/zoomplus/" target="_new">Zoom Plus</A>, and this really cool zoom <A HREF="http://www.tizard.freewire.co.uk/SEMzooms/Cochlea.htm" target="_new">Cochlea</A> but there wasn't any information on the page, just a demo. Hope this helps.

Im currently using the MS Intellimouse Optical. THe software that came with it gave me that option.
In programs such as Solidworks, Rhino. iT was easily assigned. Infact in Rhino it was a preset. What version of the Intellipoint software are you using? This doesnt seem like something that should be happening. Maybe MS took the function of the newer software? I dont know why they would do that though
