MS Article #247794 states that there is a fix to solve my
problem and to contact MS...which I tried via MS website,
but no-go. Does anyone have this fix or a better way to
contact MS.

You have to phone Microsoft Support.
If you ask for the specific hotfix and don't ask other support
questions during the call, hotfixes are free of charge. You will
receive it within minutes.
