MS-TECH MS-N750-VAL poor PSU or?

Hi,

Recently I had the pleasure of having my old PSU die on me, so I ended up just taking the whole PC down to the local computer store to see if they could just run it through to confirm it was the PSU (note that I have zero to no real knowledge about hardware). A friend of mine coincidentally had the same pleasure as I had and got himself a "MS-TECH MS-N750-VAL" and was fairly satifisied with it so far. So I decided to just buy the same one since I just needed to have a running computer again and thought "well 750W, that oughta be enough that I don't have to bother with it ever again". So I got back home and installed The Witcher 3 since I hadn't done any gaming in like 10 days (note that I never player it before so I can't compare). It runs smoothly on 60fps and no stutters or anything.

Sadly, my PC also at times just completely shuts down; no BSOD, no crash logs or error notifications. My first thought was that it might be due to overheating. Checked the GPU, went up to 70 degrees in the more intense moments but dropped right back to 50 once things calmed down. Tweaked the fan speed on it (high and low settings) but crashes stayed persistent and random. (CPU stays at 45-50 maximum). Even tried using different power cables because you never know, but no dice.

It does seem that other people do have a similar issue with the game, and most if not all replies people get are "you're probably overheating", so that doesn't help me much. The only thing left for me to imagine is that this PSU is just doing a poor job of powering my graphics card and is just shutting off due to that. Anyone got any tips? That way I know if I should just return it to the store and pick a better one.

Computer specs:
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-930A-UD3
Processor: AMD FX-8120
Graphics card: AMD Radeon HD 7870 XT
Memory: 2x G.Skill Sniper F3-14900CL9D-8GBSR
Power Supply: MS-TECH MS-N750-VAL
OS: Windows 10 Pro 64bit

Solution
That PSU is total garbage. It can only output 450w on the 12v rail which is just abysmal for a unit sold as a 750 unit. A good quality 500w unit would easily outpace it. The 12v rail is the most used and most important rail in a modern system. So they where obviously deceitful in it's rating, what else where they dishonest about? Good chance it lacks or has inadequate protections(those cost money) meaning when it dies it very well could take other parts out with it. Given your specs you are going to be running around 400w so I would not be surprised at all if that junker is causing the shut downs.

TLDR
Replace that psu ASAP.

No, never had any complete shutdown crashes in the past, got this pc for over three years now.

I appreciate the feedback. Kind of sad that stuff like this is being produced and that it was sold in the store on top of that. At least gives some comfort to know what the problem is finally.
I'll go and try contact the store about it tomorrow. Any suggestions on what exactly I should point out about it when it comes to being a malicious product? (like I said, I'm not the smartest when it comes to hardware)

Well one indicator is the very small 12v rails only having a combined max of 37.5a(450w) on a unit advertised as 750w. A good 750w PSU will usually be somewhere around 60a(720w).
