Hi Everyone,

I'm receiving my ASUS G46VW soon and I've been looking for an SSD upgrade for it, I've read in a lot of reviews that it has an mSATA slot, one review in the ROG community talked about a half size mSATA.
I just want to know, has anyone actually done this, if yes, what's you best advice on the physical size of the extra drive, and were there any BIOS issues?

Solution
I don't own one, but there shouldn't be any issues.

I recommend at least 120GB to put the main drive on. I recommend INTEL as they are very reliable: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820167144

You're going to want to CLONE the drive using something like THIS free program:
http://www.macrium.com/reflectfree.aspx

I used that to clone a laptop HDD to SSD. It worked on the 2nd try (some error) but it VALIDATES the clone which is great. Three other cloning programs just failed.

Once it clones you need to ensure the Boot Order is set so the M-Sata drive is first.

Other:
Some laptops have Intel RST which allows you to use a smaller, cheaper M-Sata SSD as a cache which essentially turns the SSD + HDD into a hybrid...

Thanks for the quick @photoboy

I asked because a lot of reviews I've seen with people trying to upgrade encounter slight issues, especially with the G46, and since I do not stay in the US, I won't appreciate going back and forth on the right drive size or fitting issues, that's why I was hoping to get an exact solution and some advise.

Thanks for the links and cloning program too, you've probably saved me some stress.
