Hello everyone!

So, recently I have quite an old PC and today I considered upgrading it by buying new components, BUT I am not sure if my motherboard can handle the new components. A geforce gtx660 (or at least a 460) would be nice with a intel core i3, but since everything is quite old, will I need a new power supply? Or even a new motherboard for all of this? I can provide more information from CPU-Z if needed. Also, is there someone who could perhaps chat with me and help with picking the components? I'm new to upgrading/building a PC so I would really appreciate it.

Thanks a lot for any help.

Honestly, dropping even the highest Core 2 Quad processor in that system would be a moot point. You didn't include the make and model of your case as well as the PSU but if it's the same age of your platform(Core 2 Duo processor) then yeah you're going to have to build from the ground up.

Regarding your budget, I wouldn't ask you to trust us with your money completely. You should have a small understanding of how much over you can't spend otherwise we should be looking at a 1000USD build and above if you have no monetary threshold. Tell you what, read through this and follow up this thread with the necessary details.
List your current (full) system's specs inclusive of your OS. List them as:

Unfortunately your titular motherboard is too old to accept any form of an Intel Core i processor part. In fact the socket has changed after the launch of Intel's LGA775 processor/last Core 2 Quad's. SO yes you will need to go for an entire platform overhaul. If you have a budget in mind perhaps we could hook you up...?

I am aware of the oldness of my computer and I don't mind going into an overhaul, it'll just take a bit more time for me to save money for it. A budget? Well, not really, any suggestions? I know it may sound dumb, but I want my PC to be able to run Overwatch at least.
