MSI 670 PE vs Sapphire 7950 Vapor x 3gb??

I have recently sold my gtx 660 ti and willing to make an upgrade even if its just minimal, I am willing to make the max overclock possible but which of those two cards will be a better selection? having in mind that the 670 is like 80 dollars more? I like to play all my games max out @60FPS, see my other system specs on signature.

Neither of these cards can max out all games at 60fps. Crysis 3 is a game that is horribly hard to max out above 60fps.
The 670 out of the box will be faster. If you overcloc both to their max, im not sure. Ive heard some say the 7950 oc vs 670 oc that the 7950 is faster. Ive heard others say that the 670 is faster.

I own a 7950 and it is a beast of a card, but i am unsure in comparing it to the 670, because ive never used the 670

If you are willing to overclock I would say that either pick you will be happy with. The 7950 is quite a bit cheaper which is a plus. Just flip a coin if you arent worried about the extra $80

Why not a HD 7970? Aren't the GTX 670 and HD 7970 about the same price? And none will max all games out at 60fps. Maybe the GTX 690?

If your looking to max out games you'll need a dual card/chip setup. However most games will be played maxed out on a 7950 with an oc. That is where your base line is at.

From what I've seen, which this also depends on the card you get and how good of a bin the gpu chip is. A 7950 is equal to a 670 when both are pushed to their max.

great so anyway maxing out games or not a 7950 will be about the same as a 670 overclocking the 7950 to something like 1200 - 1250 mhz on the core clock for example? or even more
I am not a brands fan so if the 7950 is the same or better i will buy it no with no issues.

There is no guarentee that your card will overclock to 1200 core clock.
I run mine at 1175/1575 and that is its absolute max.
You COULD get a card that can only make it to 1050 core... I would RMA it if possible.
You COULD get a card that overclocks like a beast.
Thats just another thing to take into consideration. I would say avoid the 670, unless you want physX, and go with a 7950 or 7970.


However, a 7950 overclocked to 1200core clock has beat an overclocked 680 in some tests.

So guessing i am lucky and i can reach 1150 to 1200 mhz on the clock with the sapphire vapor x could beat a 670?

Well if a 7950 cant make it to 1150mhz then its a dud.. And should be RMAed.
They go from1150-1200 range typically for a good one.
However i have heard that the vapor x does not overclock well.. But ive never used it so idk.
I have a 7950 dual-X and it runs nicely.
I tested it against my friends 660ti. With both of ours overclocked it got 8fps better in crysis 3 at 4xmsaa which is pretty significant.
With the 3D Mark 11, I scored 10120 where a gtx 680 overclocked to 1310mhz got 11080.
Honestly the 7950 boasts sheer power. It doesnt have physx but it is a power house, especially for the price. Im sure it would do fine against a 670. However if you can, a 7970 is a great option because it is seriously a KILLER card!
Pick a 7950,670 or 7970. No doubt you will be disappointed by any.. They all will game for you very nicely.
