This is my first time posting in these forums so i will try to explain what is going on the best i can, the motherboard in the title is what i currently have MSI 760GM-E51 FX, the motherboard says that it supports 1600(OC)/1333/1066, i bought some 2x8gb(16gb) PNY 1600 memory sticks and install them and i get 1 beep and boots up to the point where it says that it is initializing usb..... and just hangs there. I was wondering should the motherboard down clock the memory to 1333? as when it boots up and hangs there, like i said up above, it says the memory is clocked at 1600? i have tried installing both 1 8gb sticks by them self, and i get no hang but the 2 installed together i get the hang at the usb initializing. Also i have another motherboard that is the MSI 785GM-E51 and it also supports the same 1600(OC)/1333/1066 and i installed the new 16gb PNY 1600 in that motherboard and it works. With the MSI 785GM-E51 i have the cpu overclocked so in that system the memory is at 1573 i believe, do not know if this is making any difference as i do not think it would. I am just having a hard time understanding why it will not work with the MSI 760GM-E51 FX but it works perfectly with the MSI 785GM-E51. I am running Windows 7 x64 on both systems. I was just wondering if the MSI 760GM-E51 FX motherboard is faulty with that set of memory sticks cause as i write this i swapped some other memory that i have 4x4gb (16gb) PNY 1333 and put it in MSI 760GM-E51 FX motherboard and it works just fine. If you need the specifications of any of the 2 systems just let me know as i would think that would not matter. The motherboards are similar as the FX supports AM3+ with a bios update and supports up to 32gb of memory as the non FX motherboard only supports up to 16gb of memory and does not support AM3+.

Wow, did not think anybody was going to reply so thanks for that, and yes i have the latest bios for the problem motherboard and i am running a AM3+ FX-6350 @ 4.0.

I actually do not know where the option is to set the voltages to manual, when I look at the dram voltage it is grayed out and can not change anything.
These are all grayed out and can not be changed:
cpu vdd voltage
cpu-nb vdd voltage
cpu voltage
cpu-nb voltage
dram voltage
nb voltage
ht link voltage
sb voltage

No I built it myself and have not had any problems with it till I bought this memory and know it looks like it will not even load in windows with 1 stick of ram, maybe it is not compatible with this motherboard, I am actually done fucking around with it I will install the ram that works and be done. Thanks for the reply and help.

I do not know either but i did a test on it with the 4x4gb sticks of ram that is in it now, which runs on the system, i overclocked the memory as not to get higher then 4.0ghz on the cpu, which of course just putting the multiplier down then putting the cpu fsb frequency up so the memory will be overclocked and i found out that the memory in this board can not be overclocked at all. In my other system the 4x4gb sticks overclock fine, got it to 1573 i think i said when i first posted this thread, so maybe i need to find a different type of memory to overclock or i just can't overclock the memory at all. but oh well now i know and the system is running fine now with the 4x4gb stick of the PNY 1333 which is overclocked a tiny bit to 1372 cause of the slight overclock on my cpu to 4.0ghz im fine with it and down the road i think i will get a better motherboard. like i said before thank you for the reply and trying to help.
