Hi! so i am getting an MSI 970 gaming mobo and I have an old 4gb ddr3 1333mhz RAM and though it is stated in the MOBO's specifications that it supports 1066/1333/1600/1866/2133(oc), i stil would like to know if it will support with no problem.
It should be able to handle any old ram that you have so you should be fine with your 1333 speed just make sure you put a space between them in the 4 slots on your mobo.
That gaming mobo supports 32gb of ram max however only 1.5v on your ram. Anything faster than 1866 requires more voltage which can throttle back your speed (meaning your paying for a speed your not getting) and the industry standard right now is 1600, I would suggest you get that or the 1866 and 16gb worth if you are just gaming. If you are rendering or heavy video editing you can consider more ram but no game out there uses more than 16 so it would be a waste past that. Hope that helps!
i will definitely get a faster ram but now i alloted my budget on mobo...cpu as well as in my gpu so new ram will be next year maybe a 2x4 with faster speed. but now i will stick with my old ram. thanks for your answers! well appreciated!
