I've seen that a few other people had this issue but never saw a definitive answer or resolution. So I recently got an MSI 980 ti that has an advertised default boost clock value of 1279. A review of the card from overclockers.com shows a screenshot from GPU-Z that the default boost clock value is indeed 1279 per spec:
However when I installed my card, I used the MSI gaming app to set the card to the OC profile, then checked it with GPU-Z. For some reason the default boost clock parameter only reads 1266 not 1279. I have a seasonic gold series 750w so I don't think its power related. Setting the card to the gaming profile and silent profile show the advertised default clock speeds in GPU-Z its only the OC profile that appears to be the problem.
Under load the clock speed will jump to high 1300s which is what I would expect, but it bothers me the default value is lower than it should be.
Does anybody have an idea of whats going on?
