Hi, I just bought a second hand 980ti and its always boosted! Even when everything is closed it runs at 912mhz.. Ive read that the fans go off when temps are low around 40c but im always at 60c. I can go under 55 but I have to set fans atleast to 60%.

Ive read that the card underclocks down to 125mhz but I just dont seem to be able to figure out how.

I have a MSI 980ti OC 6gb.

While having MSI Afterburner I can see 2 things. a triangle with Base (white triangle) and a triangle with Boost next to it (Red triangle). I guess some sort of boost is on at all times.

Downloaded MSI's gaming app i think its called. Tried all 3 presets. OC, Gaming and Silent.

OC will go around 1200 if im not mistaken. Gaming stays around 912-1k and silents stays at 912mhz.

Ive read that I need to disable or enable Kboost on Precision X but I dont find that option there. Also read that I might be having kboost always on.

When I game it goes up to 1280 or 1300 cant remember, just bought the card. Trying to figure out how to make it go under 50c while idling and found out about this.

It also while idling. TDP is at 28%.

Yes, also im using 60hz 60 hz and 144hz , 3 monitors.
Also ive set them all to 60hz. Ive closed verything and disabled any hardware accelerators. Ive clean DDU'ed even on safe mode.

Ive set Nvidia power management to adaptive
I even tried to set windows to power saving.

I think Ive covered everything. I dont know where to look or what to do.

It could be because you are using 3 monitors. I just told a guy about that driver bug though.

There is an issue where your card wont downclock if a monitor is set to 144hz in multi-monitor setups. It gets fixed every so often but it always comes back on the next driver update. I have to set mine to 120 for it to downclock.

The only way I even knew it was a problem at all is I asked about my card temps on another forum and somebody pointed it out. I had the same issue where it would always idle hot and never downclock, turns out it was because of 144hz. Strangely enough, higher refresh rate monitors are unaffected such as those 165hz asus monitors.

If that guy is the one in reddit, thats me :)... Yeah 2 monitors on and goes down to where I want it. Any way around it? Or just gotta wait and hope for the best.
