MSI A55M-E35 has no VGA output

Hey guys, new to the forum here. I have a rig that has an MSI A55M-E35 and an AMD A6-5400K for onboard graphics. The VGA port on the mb is not producing a signal, which leads me to think... 1. Either the DVI-D or the HDMI port are the native output for this setup, or 2. I made a mistake and this MBA cannot be used for integrated graphics. Any thoughts?

no signal at all? no bios or no signal in operating system.

Can you try a DVI or HDMI to determine if the VGA port is bad?

Well when the monitor is plugged in and is on I get just a black screen as if it was not connected to a computer when I boot the system. So I'm assuming there is no signal. And yes that is the next plan I suppose. If either of those work ill have to figure out how to make the VGA from the monitor work with dvi-d or hdmi.
