can msi afterburner cause crashes? i got a 1080ti a few days ago and have been playing some esports titles without afterburner without any issues, i started benchmarking it today on unigine heaven with afterburner on and it kept stuttering and eventually crashing, also played world war z, the temps and the fps was very good but after 5-10 mins it crashed again, i played world war z using afterburner, i also tried using unigine heaven without afterburner and i did the whole benchmark without any problems.

could this be afterburner causing crashes?

By crash, do you mean the application closes to desktop or that your entire system performs a reboot? What is the make and model of your PSU and it's age? Also, what was your GPU prior to the GTX1080Ti? Was the card used for mining?

If you're expecting us to consider the GTX1070 listed in your sig space is your prior GPU, please pass on that information in the body of your thread. Sig space specs can and will change over time and when that does happen, the suggestions made on this thread will end up being moot to an user who may be in the same boat as you were(now).

This is why we state to list your specs in your thread's body.

when im playing world war z the game just freezes and i get a pop up saying if i want to send a crash report, i have a thermaltake toughpower grand rgb 750w, 80+ gold, before the 1080ti i used to have a gigabyte gtx 1070 g1 gaming and that card had no issues with the game, this 1080ti that i currently have was used for mining for 5-6 months on and off, the 1070 i owned was never used for mining.

Hey man, i'm experiencing the same problem too. I did so many research what would cause the game to crash, from Nvidia Control Panel configurations, reverting back to old Nvidia updates to BIOS updates to from your motherboard. I did all of them and nothing happens, still the same problem occurs. And then i saw someone commented on the NVIDIA forum site saying this:-

Try using this setting at Nvidia Control panel @ Manage 3d Setting -> OpenGL rendering GPU to "AUTO SELECT" @Configure Surround,Phys X -> Physx Setting to "AUTO SELECT" @display -> Change Resolution USE "PC (YOUR CURRENT RESOLUTION) NATIVE" ( if didnt work try unistalling MSI AFTERBURNER )

So after i saw this, i did uninstalled MSI Afterburner, and everything was alright... Kinda weird. I OC'ed my GPU like a week ago, then i realise after that, this problem occurs. I'm just using a super old GTX 750 Ti btw hahaha.
