MSI Afterburner - does it automatically switch profiles? 2d and 3d. I have a 2d profile for browsing the internet and a 3d profile for gaming. Does it switch automatically to 3d profile if I start a game or do I manually switch it all the time? What if you alt+tab to your desktop what will happen.

Solution
Yes it switches depending on the application. When you open a 3D game and minimise it, it will go back to lower clocks as it is no longer rendering the 3D game.
So no you don't have to manually do it.
How does it know this? When certain graphics programs are called upon it picks it up and changes (e.g. Direct X)

-good luck

By the way that profile picture made me stare at it for a while.

Oh ok, one more question - when I start my PC, my profiles dont work and are at default settings. I had to activate my 2d profile. I was expecting msi AB to get things ready by itself in windows startup.

When i start my computer MSI AB only loads the 3d settings, so yes. I have to manually activate the 2d settings because my r7 260x has stability issues. So 2d settings for browsing, movies, internet, 3d settings for gaming.

Here's a better idea, go ti MSI ab's settings and find the option force constant voltage.
That should keep your clock at your 3Dclock all the time, that may mean more heat on idle though.

Personally if your card is not stable at it's downclocked state then Id be looking at a bad chip.
