MSI Afterburner Fan Curve GTX 970 Concerns.

I recently picked myself up a EVGA GTX 970 SSC and am very satisfied. Only thing that alarmed me was that when I played Bioshock Infinite, on Ultra, the gpu temps rose to 70-75. It's not a terrible number but it isn't that comfortable either.

Then I saw the fan speeds only went up to 30% and increased very slowly from there. That seemed odd, why such a small percentage.

The question is, will running MSI Afterburner with the fan curve decrease the life of my gpu or the gpu fan? Or will it only really affect it positively? I have the default 'user define' settings.

Solution
I would set the GPU fans to run at 50% at 60c, 65% at 70c, 70% at 75c, 80% at 80c, and 100% at 85c. I do use Afterburner for this and allow it to always control my GPU fans.

The fans are there to keep the GPU alive. Use them for that.

Thank you for responding so quickly, anyway,
I understand but will it decrease the lifespan of any of the components significantly.

No. Worry about the GPU. Not the fans. They reason the companies set the fan speeds slow is because some people are bothered by noise, and slower fan speeds equals less noise. I want my card, fans and all to last for years. So I keep the GPU cool.
