MSI Afterburner Framerate?

When I use MSI afterburner and adjust the core clock to 1075mhz and the memory clock to 1350 mhz with power limit on max, the card seems to run fine that I have (MSI r9 290)
Now, I never saved a profile so I had to manually adjust core clock, memory clock and power limit for some time now. My question is, can this stuff kill performance on the gpu if you mess with it to much?

You can save the settings in the profile on the lower side of the Afterburner window.

You will experience BSOD and freezes if your OC settings are unstable.

But if you keep adjusting to the same setting because they haven't saved will it affect the card.
