MSI-afterburner not working?

For my school i needed to buy an low preformance overpriced laptop.
I wanted to overclock it a bit so it may be a little bit more usefull.
So i downloaded Msi-afterburner to find that the sliders cannot be changed.
What is going wrong? I do not know.
If anyone knows what the problem is please tell me
