I have a Msi B150 PC Mate Mobo, with 1 m.2 slot. I read the manual, and it said that if I had an m.2 drive in the lone slot, the sata slots 1&2 would have no power, so i tried moving my hdd into sata slot 3, but when I turned on my pc, it went straight to bios, and said that all the sata ports had no connections. Does anyone know what is causing this?

Solution
it all depends on which type of m.2 SSD you installed. These days they come as NCME (pcie based) and SATA (same as a sata hdd/ssd)
* SATA1~2 ports will be unavailable when installing the M.2 SATA interface module in M.2 slot.
SATA3~4 ports will be unavailable when installing the M.2 PCIe interface module in M.2 slot.
