Hello all,

Yesterday, my Ryzen 7 1700 came in the mail along with the new system board, Memory, and new psu. I installed everything like I normally would, powered on, and prepared for an OSRI with a previously created Windows 7 pro bootable usb. I made it to the drive selection screen, only to find that my mouse and keyboard were unresponsive(also received a notice that "a required cd/dvd drive device driver could not be located" error, which means I could not continue with the OSRI.)

I proceeded to spend the next 3-4 hours checking out threads on various websites trying every different method that people say worked for them to fix the issue. But to no avail. My usb ports continue to work while in BIOS, but as soon as any sort of operating system environment is loaded, they become unresponsive.

I did manage to find a PS/2 keyboard which works under all conditions so far. The hard drive that contains my OS from my previous configuration will actually boot into windows, and I'm able to log in and such, but again, usb ports are not functioning. I'm legitimately stumped on what to do about this, as It seems the usb ports are not faulty, considering they will work just fine in BIOS.

I'm currently recreating my bootable drive to see if that stupid driver error will go away. I should mention that I do not have access to an optical drive at this point in time, so I am unable to create an OS install disc. Please please pleaaasseeeee if anyone has any knowledge of this issue, send some help my way. I really want to get this new setup running and hop into some games to see how well this new cpu performs over the outdated FX architecture. Thanks in advance!

Solution
Tested Solution on B350 Tomahawk:

Please flash a clean Windows 7 onto a USB stick and download the MSI Smart Tool.
Add USB drivers for the USB Stick with the MSI Smart Tool. (it may throw out some errors, format the drive and flash a new Windows 7)

Please download NTLite from Link
Download Chipset for the B350 Tomahawk.
Extract Chipset on desktop or elsewhere.
After NTLite is installed, locate the flash drive with Windows 7 + Smart Tool Fixes and load the Windows 7 verison not PE or Setup.
This will take time. Wait for it to finish.
After loaded go to drivers.
Add three drivers from the Chipset folder.

Code:
amd_chipset_drivers_am4\Chipset_16.50.2601\Packages\Drivers\SBDrv\USB30_ZP\amdxhc\W764A\amdxhc.inf
&...

Thanks for the reply, I'll try installing with windows 10 here in a bit.

I had it working for a few hours, found my CPU to be performing as good as the 1800X (From some review benchmarks). It's a beast! Enjoy yours!

So I've had everything up and running for a full day now, went ahead and performed a clean install of Windows 10(was feeling apprehensive, but it was time). My Ryzen 7 1700 is paired with an MSI Gaming X RX 480 8GB. Upgrading from an FX-8300, I am noticing a difference in 1080p gaming performance, but find myself slightly disappointed with the performance of several recent titles like Deus Ex and Dishonored 2, I can't seem to get a consistent 60 fps on higher settings. Starting to point fingers at the RX 480. Thinking about doing some overclocking on the 1700 as well, but I don't have a liquid cooling solution, only a hyper 212 and AMD's new stock cooler(which so far is not doing a good job at keeping my ryzen cool, idle temps around 37c). *sigh*

I'm having the exact same issue with same board, cpu, and win 7. Just ordered a ps2 mouse and keyboard, and praying that this will solve the issue. I just need to get into Windows so I can install the mobo drivers...can you confirm that w/o needing to reinstall windows, the am4 chipset drivers from the amd support site fixed your USB ports? Thanks for your post though, it gave me hope!

Select "Apply"

The flash drive should be rewritten if everything worked properly.

It will take time so leave it to process. Once it finishes everything it will be safe to remove the USB and install Windows 7.
Hopefully this helps anyone else that had this issue. I'm writing this off of memory so hopefully everything is correct.

Solution

I just made a Toms Hardware account to let anybody know that the post from xXLostSpiritXx worked wonders with my build. Thank you for posting this!

Guys, Find a ps2 keyboard and plug it in and then boot. Remember ps2 devices are not plug and pray.
Once booted open explorer on the msi cdrom of drivers. Open win7/usb3/AMD/USB30/amdxhc.msi load it. Then load
win7/usb3/AMD/USB30/amdhub.msi install this file. Once installed the usb mouse will work in a USB 2.00 ports.

Only usb2.00 ports work. unplug the ps2 keyboard and reboot with a usb keyboard and mouse in the 2 usb sockets under the ps2 socket. Enjoy the solution.

I cant get win to replace the drivers with these, and I am not allowed to remove the current ones.. I am starting to regret buying AMD alot.. been trying for days to get usb ports to work.. og wont install latest chipset drivers either
