I have been patiently waiting for BIOS update for my B450 Tomahawk (not MAX), but on Dec 22 they released beta version of AMD AGESA 220.127.116.11 and some people have said that this is the BIOS update for 5600x CPU. I wanted to confirm here before I flash my BIOS , if this is indeed the right BIOS update or should I wait for 'official' and not beta update to come out?
All AMD 400-Series Motherboards Comprehensively Support Ryzen 5000 CPU with AMD AGESA COMBO PI V2 18.104.22.168 Patch D
The purpose to keep releasing BIOS update is not only for increasing motherboards performance but also for better compatibilities. After AMD launches Ryzen 5000 CPU, most are inquisitive about whether Ryzen 5000 CPU is compatible with AMD previous platforms. MSI realizes that users are eager to enhance their motherboards with the latest CPU; therefore, we are determined to offer AGESA 22.214.171.124 Patch D for all AMD 400-series motherboards. With AGESA 126.96.36.199 Patch D, your 400-series motherboards can support Ryzen 5000 CPU and achieve its true performance. Since there are some technical issues on AGESA 188.8.131.52, it will not be released. Thus, AGESA 184.108.40.206. Patch D is the finest choice to update your motherboards.
whether you should wait or not is another question. I know other makers never take bios out of beta once they released for older boards so there is a chance it will always be a beta, or MSI might make it official in the next few weeks.
