Question MSI B550 Gaming GEN3 Gaming Motherboard and NZXT H7 Flow Case: USB 3 adaptor problem

MSI B550 Gaming GEN3 Gaming Motherboard and NZXT H7 Flow Case and EZDIY-FAB USB 2.0 Internal Header (9-Pin) to USB 3.1/3.2 Type-C (20-Pin) A-Key Front Panel 180 degrees Adapter, Extend USB Type E Ports to PCs Front Panel USB Ports,

The case has a type 3 usb port, but the mother board doesn't have the female socket for the funky cable the case has for that port. I got the adaptor listed above and plugged it onto one of the empty motherboard headers. But, no love. Is this adapter just trash or....other problem? Note that the regular USB ports and the audio jack on the case, which also plug into the mobo, do work.

I'd really appreciate a hint because I have like 57 iphone cables, are all of which are type-3 to iphone.

USB 2.0 (0.48 Gbps) to USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-C (10 Gbps)? Yeah, doesn't happen.

Option #1:
Buy a MoBo that has type-C internal port off the bat.

Option #2:
What you can do, to get type-C working, is;
1. USB 3.0 internal (5 Gbps) to type-C internal,

Note: the type-C port max bandwidth will remain same as USB 3.0 has it. So, 5 Gbps. You can not get 10 Gbps as the USB port on PC case itself is rated.

2. USB 2.0 internal (0.48 Gbps) to USB 3.0 internal,

Since the USB 3.0 internal header is used up with 1st adapter, to get the type-C working, this 2nd adapter is needed to get the remaining USB 3.0 type-A ports on PC case working. Bandwidth restrictions are the same as with above one. Your USB 3.0 ports will remain at USB 2.0 speeds. So, max 0.48 Gbps (or 480 Mbps).

Overall, you'll loose on USB bandwidth, but at least you can get all 3x USB ports on PC case working.

Option #3:
Is not to buy these two adapters and keep USB 3.0 internal header connected to USB 3.0 type-A ports, while type-C is left unconnected. This way, you can get full bandwidth of USB 3.0 but can not use type-C port at all.

Option #4:
Buy this type-A male to type-C male cable (you can choose length and color),

Or this type-A male to type-C female adapter,

And hook it to the red colored USB type-A port, at the rear end of your MoBo.

These two red type-A ports are USB 3.2 Gen 2 (10 Gbps) ports. Same speed as your front USB type-C port would be able to do.


Your call what to do.
But for your issue, option #4 would give you the 10 Gbps speeds and type-C port (depending if you buy the cable or adapter). Option #2 would make all front I/O USB ports working, but with reduced bandwidth.
