I have seen a lot of benchmarks that says that the mortar one is the superior one(vrm wise and points wise) BUT the comparison were between msi b660m pro A and b660m mag mortar. Now my option with pro A is normal one(not micro atx) and b660m mag mortar. So my only question is:if the pro A one isn't micro atx will it be better(vrm wise and points wise)? Or does that have no effect on that part? https://maximumhardware.store/mothe...0?mfp=6f-cpu-socket-type[490],stock_status[7]

In case you want to take a look to have a better understanding of what I am trying to say

The ATX versus micro ATX distinction matters very little by itself.

What matters is stuff like this:

Specific components used on the board. Difficult to determine for a layman without a lot of digging beyond the standard spec sheet. Useful to some extent if you can find a lot of details.

Features provided...number and type of USB ports, drive ports, slots for your cards, audio codec, monitor connections. Easy to determine.

Chipset provided....Z690, H670, B660, etc. Each has somewhat different features and capabilities. Easy to determine.

Quality control, build quality, reliability, durability. Difficult to determine.

Your luck. This is more important than you would prefer.

Part of an indication that you're buying something better than the other within the same brand in spite of it being from the same product stack(motherboards) is the price tag, whereby the atx is cheaper than the matx board, meaning you're paying less for lower quality hardware when compared to something that has higher quality parts.

So pretty much there isn't such difference between that matx and atx? So do you think the best bet is to go for the mortar?

So what you are trying to say is a smaller in size and less ports still more pricey(so higher quality components) right?

Of those 2 specific boards:

Mortar if you don't need the features that may be found on the other one.

Not the Mortar if you do need the features found on the ATX.

It's up to you to determine the features.

You could have a bad outcome with either. Or a good outcome with both.
