So I recently purchased the MSI B85-G41 PC Mate. When I was looking over it I thought it would be compatible straight out of the box with my i5 4590 that I am purchasing soon aswell. It says its compatible with all 4th gen lga 1150 I7, i5, and i3's. So I continued to purchase. I realized that it might need a bios update before it will work with my 4590, so I've been doing some research and wanted to see if I actually would need to update the bios first. First off, here's the link to the motherboard on Newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Order=BESTMATCH&Description=msi+b85+g41&N=-1&isNodeId=1. I was doing a bit of research on intel's compatability checker with cpu's and motherboard's. I first selected my CPU then proceeded to select my Motherboard, obviously the b85, when I clicked on it it showed me the minimum version of the bios. I am confused to whether its showing the minimum version of the bios available or the minimum version needed to support the i5 4590 straight out of the box without any updates. Here is the link for that: http://processormatch.intel.com/MotherBoards/CompatibleBoards?componentName=i5-4590. You have to scroll a bit down to find the motherboard. Finally looking at the msi page found here: http://us.msi.com/support/mb/B85-G41-PC-Mate.html#down-bios it shows that the earliest version of the bios is v2.0 which is also the version intel compatability checker says, so I want to clarify if that means that it will work straight out of the box. Sorry for keeping this long, I just want to describe whats going on and what I have read. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
