Hello, I currently have the Core Frozer L installed on my CPU and I am now awaiting for the XL to ship. I was wondering if it is even necessary to remove the backplate and screws from the L to install the XL. From install videos that I've seen on youtube and from the instructions of both the L/XL the install looks identical. I am hoping this won't be needed for a much easier install. I'm installing this on socket 1151 intel by the way. Thanks.

It probably would work. It looks like the two coolers use identical mounting systems. I would be comfortable attempting to install the cooler with the Core Frozr L mounting system in place. If you can install the mounting bar, the cooler doesn't move around, and the temps look OK then you should be OK. My main concern would be the L washers not being tall enough. You'd know as when you tried to screw in the mounting bar over the CPU block if the height was wrong as it wouldn't reach.
