MSI FM2-A55M-E35 uATX compatible with fx 8350?

Aw really? What mother board would you recommend?

I was hoping I didn't have to upgrade my mother board as I thought it would be cheaper

I may just get an i5 and a new mother board then.....

wait for a month or two, aim for an i5 6600k and an asus/gigabyte mobo (mid to upper midrange price range), 2x 4 GB dual channel DDR4 kit from corsair or g.skill.

if the psu is entry level low end, get a psu upgrade as well.

Iv never really built my own PC before (not got a lot of knowledge with PCs) I just recently got The gtx 960 and I'm sure it is 600 watt power supply upgrade

So how is the i5 4690k and what motherboard is compatible with that?

The problem with next gen is that it doesn't come with a stock cooler, so you HAVE to buy an aftermarket one, and it's on the DDR4 RAM platform, so you have to upgrade that as well. Also, the i5-4690K is what I have, and I'm very satisfied with it.

that's okay. most of use never did it either. we used the available resources here and slowly learned through trial and error (in my case, blunders :)).

you need to take a closer look at the power supply. what is it called (make and model)? low end stuff often are incapable of running more powerful parts.

the i5 4690k is okay.. but newer cpus have come out very recently. this is why i advised to wait a little bit and aim for those (meanwhile, save up some more).

you can get the parts from the u.k. scan.co. novatech, aria.co sell pc parts. try the one that can deliver the parts to you.... i guess.

Nice one! I may wait a while and just get the new gen, this will all work with my gtx 960 yeah?

Ok so my power supply is xfx pro 650 watt

xfx core edition pro? it's good psu. with work with a gtx 960 and intel core i5 build.

btw, if your pc is a prebuilt pc or a boutique build, and you're looking to upgrade the motherboard and cpu only, you should check it's warranty coverage. if it's still under warranty, you should contact your pc builder's customer support and check with them.

if you're gonna build new from scratch, then skip this part.

Yeah it's a pre build and its under warranty still, what's good about contacting them? And yeah it's definitely only the cpu and motherboard I need to upgrade

because you paid for the warranty coverage when you bought it. if you break the seal or breach warranty agreement in any way before the period is up then you lose that money. you also lose the customer support and other things you've already paid for. this is why you should contact the builder's customer support and ask them about the upgrades and if they can help and at how much cost. personally, i don't feel comfortable about breaking warranty agreement.
