Question msi g281vu color depth

hi, i bought this monitor 9 months ago.
but i didn't notice my color depth is just 8 bit.
after google it around, i just found one comment, that i am supposed to buy a separate Display port cable so that i be able to achive 10 bit. (it came with a HDMI Cable itself)


since i cant verify this comment, can anyone confirm this? and if so, should i just look for a DP v1.2?

also does it worth it at all? will in increase color quality?

I don't have the monitor myself, so can't confirm whether you need DP to run 10bit.

Unless you're staring at gradients on black backgrounds, then you won't really notice much difference between 8bit dithered and 10bit. The difference can come in play with competent HDR, but the monitors brightness range isn't capable of that, so that's out the question.

I wouldn't worry about it.
