Good day, guys. My name is Ian.

First of all these are my specs.

Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit (6.1, Build 7601) Service Pack 1 (7601.win7sp1_gdr.130828-1532)
Motherboard: MS-7592 (G41M-P28)
Processor: Pentium(R) Dual-Core E5700 @ 3.00GHz (2 CPUs),
Memory: 4096MB RAM (2x DDR3 2GB RAM 1333)
Video Card: 9800GT
PSU: 500W

The story is I wanted to upgrade my memory since the manufacturer of my motherboard indicated that it could support up to 8Gb of RAM.

Link: http://www.msi.com/product/mb/G41M-P28.html

So, I bought Corsair's CMX8GX3M2A1333C9 (2x4GB 1333), but when I tried it, my PC would not boot. It would turn on because i can see the fans running, but my monitor shows nothing and goes to sleep. So, I tried only one of them, thinking it was an OS issue, but still it won't turn on.

The same thing happened when I went to another store and basically tried various DDR3 4GB and 8GB RAM of various frequencies. In the end, the only one that would actually work was a DD3 2GB RAM 1333 they had lying around. That's why my PC now has 4GB of RAM.

Am I doing something wrong? Does my motherboard really support 8GB of RAM like it says? Do I need to change to 64-bit first before trying the 4GB/8GB cards?

Please help. I'm very confused.

Yours truly,

Ian

Thank you for replying.

Yes, I have the latest BIOS. Specifically, the version Q.B0 one for my system.

Oh. I should change my FSB? But I have tried 1066 4GB/8GB RAMs, as well, with the same result.

I feel like I'm missing something. 🙁

Thank you, sir.

After reading your post about FSBs, I did a little digging around, I think I have found the problem. It's not the motherboard. My CPU (Pentium Dual Core E5700) only has an FSB Speed of 800 MHz. That's probably why anything other than 800 MHz will not work on my PC.

I feel as though I have wasted your time.

I'm really sorry.

Sincerely,

Ian
