MSI Gaming 3 Mother Board Support SLI

Hey guys a quick question. I have the MSI Z97 Gaming 3 Motheboard and it says it supports Crossfire and not SLI. I want to use my GTX 690 and since its a Single Dual GPU Card will it work with my motherboard?

Of course it will work.

I think you might have that wrong. Here's from Nvidia's SLI FAQ:

Do you have dedicated hardware for NVIDIA SLI technology or is it just software?
Yes. NVIDIA GPUs combined with an SLI®-Certified motherboard (which ships with the proprietary NVIDIA SLI connector) are the necessary building blocks for the SLI platform...

Crossfire will work any pretty much any motherboard in any slot (it might not perform well, but it will work). SLI requires at least x8 lanes for each GPU AND an SLI-certified motherboard. I believe this is still the case for dual GPU cards, they stil require "the proprietary Nvidia SLI connector"

I'm not 100% sure that I'm right on this, so I'm happy to be corrected if you have a source, but I'm fairly confident the SLI requires MB support, regardless of whether it's single card or dual card... it's still requires SLI and still requires MB support.
