I just bought a Gigabyte G1 Gaming GTX 970 and have decided to SLI. I do plan on OC'ng. Have a ASUS Maximus VII hero board. I'm seriously looking at returning the Gigabyte G1 and ordering instead 2 MSI GTX 970 Golden Edition's. I love the looks of the MSI, but can you guys give opinions on Cooling , OC potential, components, etc. these. Plus is the MSI golden edition worth the $30 premium over the G1?

I have the MSI it had cool whine but it went away after a few day of paying games, only here and there I hear it but for the most gone.

I have the gaming edition I don't think the gold is worth it. The 350 dollar is just as good as the gold one except the copper one runs a little less hot.

I heard g1 has a higher clock but it's runs louder, msi runs cool and quiet. I pleasure demanding games with the fan profile at 60%, never went over 50c. Quiet too.

However, the Gold Edition is dead silent ( at idle, silent at full load as well), has better cooling and heat delivery due to all copper heatsinks, has a nice color changing LED, and improves on what the Gaming Edition failed to deliver: They added a backplate! There are only 2000 of these in the world, so in my opinion, I think the extra $50 is 100% worth it. I'll be SLI'ng these. I hope you grab a pair, too!
