Hi, I just did a new build with a new motherboard (msi m5 gaming z370) and a new processor (intel i7 8700k). I just built a new system and I have been running into an issue when I try shutting down and restarting my computer. The shut down takes 3-4 minutes each time i try to restart or shut down. This is quite frustrating considering its a brand new build. When I do either of these, at first the monitor and keyboard power off almost immediately, but then the actual motherboard and components stay on. the fans keep running etc... This is really annoying because I have tried a lot of troubleshooting, talking to Microsoft and Msi. I have updated bios as well. This is my last resort. My specs are listed below

-Intel i7 8700k
-evga 1070 icx ftw 2
-Msi m5 gaming z370
-evga supernova 850watt
-samsung ssd (boot drive)
-crucial ssd
-corsair H100 v2 w
-wd blue hard drive
-g skill Ripjaw 16gb ram

The only new things I changed in this build was the motherboard and processor
Everything was working before.
Any advice is appreciated!

Are you on windows 10 version 1709? If you swapped the motherboard without reinstalling windows that can cause issues too. What was your old motherboard?

I looked and I have windows 1709 installed. My old motherboard was an Asus x99a lga 2011

Generally when you swap boards you're suppose to reinstall windows. Old drivers can cause all sorts of wonky issues.

Hey so windows updated itself this morning when i logged on. It fixed itself apparently. Thank you for the good advice anyways bro!
