Hello all!
EDIT: Wanted to toss in an apology if I've posted this in the wrong sub forum.
I am hoping a new guy might get some help. I just spent the last two hours Googling to no avail.
New system:
Windows 10 Pro
MSI Z170A Gaming M7
I7 6700K (Not yet OC)
Corsair Dominator 16GB DDR4 3200MHz
Asus GTX980 Ti Strix
I bought Logitech Z906 speakers for this system and I am having trouble making 5.1 sound happen. I have the latest Realtek drivers installed (6.0.1.7541).
I have tested each speaker and the sub and can verify they all work.
The Realtek HD Audio Manager detects each of the three cables when plugged in. It is set to 5.1, it acts like it is outputting sound, but only the two front speakers actually produce sound. The center, sub, and rear speakers are silent.
I've been through the Windows settings, confirmed that all volumes are turned up. In the sound portion of the Control Panel, the Speakers/Realtek HD Audio are set to the default device, and in testing the 5.1 via the configure option, I get similar results: no rear, center, or sub.
In case there is a conflict I'm not seeing, the other audio devices visible in Control Panel are:
Nvidia HDMI Output (Three separate entries, Ports 1-3)
PHL BDM4065-4 (speakers on my Phillips Monitor)
Realtek HD Audio 2nd output (I assume the headphone jack on the front of the tower)
Realtek Digital Output
I've been looking for solutions and can't quite seem to find a case where someone was successful after having a similar problem.
Any help would be appreciated. I cannot claim to be an advanced user, but I really didn't think audio would make me stumble.
Thanks!
