Hi,
Looking at either an MSI GE75 Raider (GE75023)
https://us.msi.com/Laptop/GE75-Raider-8SX/Specification

Or an Lenovo Legion Y740 (81HH0003US)
https://www.lenovo.com/us/en/laptop...vo-Legion-Y740-17/p/88GMY701062#tab-customize

Both seem to have same general specs (CPU, RAM, etc) and/or can change those, so would appreciate advice on GPU or anything I missed. If I want laptop to last several years, is a RTX 2080 the best choice? Currently rocking an ASUS with a 960M which really held out until last fall, so I like my machines to last.

Lenovo is Max-Q Design, but has G-SYNC. I care less about texture quality and more about stable frame rate, so seems a better choice but I understand the Max-Q is lower power? Is that a worse choice for longer term?

Finally - is the i9 Raider worth the extra US$800 or so? Like if i7 will be good for 4 years and i9 will be solid for 6+, that would be worth it to me but if it's just a slight bump then no. I play anything Bethesda-like (besides Fallout 76), indies, and FPS. Portability/battery and style are not concerns.

Thank you!

MSI has better build quality (only an lcd has died on my sister's 2013 msi with a 960m). I don't think the i7 is that much of a cpu bottleneck compared to the i9. Is 5fps that much more futureproof?

Thanks. Yeah, I'm leaning towards the MSI, probably the 283 config, though I'd have to add a bigger drive.

If that's all an i9 will give you, then def not worth it.
