Hi, I've recently built my first rig. I've bought the MSI GeForce GTX 760 Twin Frozr OC and I decided to overclock it. Using the MSI Afterburner and Heaven 4.0, I managed to OC until it was stable running the benchmark at 47 FPS, at a score of 1197. I saved the settings in Afterburner and went out. Later in the day I logged back in to run the tests again, after loading the same settings in Afterburner and I can't seem to get anywhere near the same results, I'm pretty much getting the results of my card as ifs not overclocked. Can anyone think of a solution? Any help is appreciated.

you may already know this but I will say it just to be sure. the card you purchased is already OCed from the factory. This means anything else you get out of the card will be minimal.
When it comes to program rating the performance, your results will vary and you will need to do an average to get its normal score.

An After thought, If your card is unstable (meaning erroring) it will adversely effect your score also. If you have OCCT you can use there GPU test with error checking ON to see if it is erroring. Now just because the card does not crash doesn't mean that it is not having errors.
OCCT is a free program and can be downloaded. While running the test do not use the PC. Just leave it alone and let it run for 1 hour without errors before you can say it is stable.
My 5770 that was not crashing and was erroring but only showed issues in Crysis 3. the same was happening to my old Nvidia 9800GTX+ and in my other machine with a 4870. the later 2 only showed slight graphic anomalys.

Yeah I know, I'm pretty new to all of this but I was running the benchmark comfortably multiple times and getting 47 FPS out of it. Now I've just ran it again and only got 37 FPS on the exact same settings, I'm just pretty confused and was hoping someone would be able to provide me with a solution.

yes. this is the only way to know if the added OC is stable. just remember to not use the PC. If you do It WILL give a false positive. it will error if you use the machine while using OCCT gpu test. in the seeting make sure you set it for error checking.
I've ran this this software and had no errors. I've checked everything and the OC that I've set up is running the same as before, but every time I run Heaven, I still can't get anywhere near the FPS I was getting before. Does anyone else have any suggestions?

It's a possibility that he might not get a significant overclock, and it's a possibility that he might get a significant overclock. My factory OC'd 7970 (1000/1450) was able to be overclocked to 1200/1600, and I haven't hit my limit. It's no guarantee one way or the other.
And Heaven will not vary by 10 FPS, coming from experience.
redxiii81, did you mess with any graphical settings in the Nvidia Control Panel? Did you try restarting the computer? (This fixed my Heaven issue when I crashed while overclocking.) I know you said you set the clocks when you logged back in, but just as a reminder, when you restart, make sure you set them again.
No I havent touched any of the graphical settings. I've restarted the computer many times now as well as making sure that I applied the changes that I made to my graphics card. For some reason I still can't get anywhere near the FPS and score that the benchmark give make on previous tests.
Iv noticed that if i overclock msi gaming edition gtx 760 +12vM 145max power and change the core clock to 1280 then run kombustor and stress test it i see it reaching 1280 no problem... but as soon as i exit kombustor i loose the clock and it goes back to slowing the clock to save energy... iv check all the settings i need to prevent this inside of msi afterburner though... I also dont have the gaming app open when doing this and have tried it with the gaming app open but it crash... then when i look at the clocks while playing a game with msi afterburner overclocking the card confirmed by kombustor.... it just shows the default clocks that come with the card without any sort of overclocking be it from gaming app or msi afterburner.... is this card locked to only be overclockable with the gaming app and nothings else... i was led to think i could use msi afterburner with this gpu as shown on the official msi gaming edition gtx 760 website page... or is it that they need to release a working version of msi afterburner for this gpu ?
i found out why the clock isnt staying at that clock constantly... open up the msi gaming app that comes with the gpu and then clock overclock mode then open up msi afterburner and start overclocking. Then u will notice in gpuz that its always at what you set it to.If you only use msi afterburner by itself it will just raise the boost clock but in games it wont always stay boosted. Doing it my way keeps the fps solid and makes it work as it should.
