Help! I bought an MSI gtx 750 ti tf oc and attempted to install it in my HP p7-1118 with my IT friend. Long story short, it didn't work: the computer would not get past the startup menu. My friend is going to take a look at it later to try and make it work, but in the meantime, has anybody else had this problem or know what is wrong and how to fix it?

Have you verified that the 750ti is not the problem by installing in another system?

Also, your HP's OEM PSU is only rated at 300w and the MSI recommends a 400w PSU. Although the 750ti only pulls 60w of power, your PSU may not be up to the task.

No, I have not installed it in another machine yet. Also, I have replaced the PSU with a 430w PSU from corsair in preparation for this GPU.

Well guys, here's the deal. After many hours of tinkering and praying, I am sending the card back. Not by any fault of the card, but because my computer will not work with it. What brought us closest to using the card was disabling the port security for the PCI 16 slot. This allowed us to boot the computer with the GPU installed, but it would not recognize that the GPU existed. We tried downloading the drivers but no luck. My only explanation is that HP must have completely locked the bios against upgrading. Screw you and your proprietary nonsense, Hewlett-Packard! On a happier note, I am now looking at building my own PC!
