hi there..
i have an msi gt70 ONE with windows7 pre-installed and i installed windows 8 without updating my bios cuz i need it for some rally good functions for windows8 like secureboot and fast boot.
my question is do i have to reinstall windows 7 again and the updating the bios because ifound a really confusing sentence n msi site which is '' is you purchase your windows with WINDOWS7 BIOS installed, lease don't attempt to update your sestem with WINDOWS 8 BIOS otherwise it might break your system down''
what do they mean by windows7 bios ?? is it the bios version that's specialized for windows 7 or they are talking about the the system itself?
and my second question is that how to configure windows8 with my laptop brand i mean how can i remove the logo of windows 8 when starting up the system and integrate it with the laptop brand because other laptops which has windows8 preinstalled doesn't have it and they have that circular animation with the laptop brand instead.

sorry for my really bad English.. hope you got my questions understand :)

Solution

With the brand, it depends on the brand and bios. When I first installed windows 8 on my system, I have not updated my bios from what it came with (custom build btw). A while later I was encountering problems, so I updated my bios. After that bios update instead on the Win 8 symbol I get the ASUS symbol at boot.

Not really sure about your first question. That was not a prob with my MB, so I really do not know.
Uninstall Windows 7 before attempting to install Windows 8 As for the logo situation , there is most likely some software that allows you change the logo. This option came with my drivers disc for my motherboard.

Attention:

Users who download BIOS from here (not using Live Update) should use the flash utility included in the downloaded compressed file when doing the BIOS update. To avoid BIOS update failure, please do not use older versions of the update utility or utilities not provided by MSI.
- If the notebook you purchased has Win7 Bios installed, please DON'T attempt to update using Windows 8 bios (or vice versa). Failure to abide may result in bricking your system.

- Although there's a bios detection program written to protect user from cross flashing the bios (Win7 to Win8 bios or vice versa), still DON'T experiment. Failure to abide may result in breaking your system.

I am pretty sure what it is saying here is that if you have Win 7, do not use the Win 8 BIOS. And if you have Win 8 then you can not use the Win 7 BIOS. Anyone else thinking differently?

thank you both for your answers:)
i returned back to windows 7 just to make sure that everything will work fine but when im trying locate the usb flash memory by pressing F: and entre it dosen't recognize it
and i tried to follow thier method by pressing b: and entre -- dir + entre every thing works fine with me .. but the problem is that when i write flash it didn't work 🙁 anyone knows how to locate my flash memory ??

thank you both again .. i really appreciate your answers :)

now i updated my bios while having win 7 installed. but now i cant see secure boot and fast boot in the bios. so now im going to install win8 and maybe im going to flash the bios again but now using the method of win8. do you think that doing that will damage the bios because the number of the version for win8 is like E1762IMS.70X but my current bios number is E1762IMS.30U

I would have to say that I am not the most experianced in this area. I would try to find a friend or contact someone else on the forums before trying something that this that could damage your machine. OR google it, see what comes up. I do not have much time right now to figure this out. Before doing this if you find something share it here so we can take a look at it.
