MSI GTX 1070 is going over GPU Clock Boost without me even touching a thing in Afterburner.

My GPU's Clock is going over it's set limit of 1750MHz when I boot up GTA V Redux. It goes up to 1911 MHz on the loading screen, even though the "boost" is only around 1750 (default). It also went up in Battlefield 1 to about 2100MHz which made my whole screen have pixels 1cmx1cm in size and my whole PC just froze, so I had to restart my PC...any help/suggestions?

Right now I'm afraid of really running any games as it seems my GPU is just maxing out the clock and if it goes over 2100MHz I'm afraid it might potentially mess up the GPU.

My specs if needed for any reason:
i7 3820 @ 3.6GHz
MSI GTX 1070 Armor OC 8GB
16GB of DDR3 RAM
Sabertooth x79 Mobo
Windows 10 64bit

I would appreciate any help and what I can do to solve this. I'm going to try to install the MSI drivers that came with the GPU and see if that helps. I am currently using the downloaded version of Afterburner from MSI's website.

Edit: Also, will uninstalling MSI Afterburner completely stop this issue?

Don't bother with the drivers the card came with, download the latest drivers from the Nvidia website. The GPU boost feature of the card sounds normal and they all boost over the advertised boost clock out of the box. If you are having issues with the card being unstable at stock speed I would return and get a card that works correctly.

If it works fine and you dont see any graphics issues or crashing, dont complain. more speed the better. Just make sure it stays under 85 degrees celsius. (recommended)
