I have the MSI GTX 1080 Gaming X, and I'm having some issues with the MSI gaming app that controls the core clock speeds for the GPU. The "Gaming Mode" is working as I believe it should, with the base clock being at 1683 MHz and the boost clock allowing the card to reach an average of 1923 MHz with the highest speed (that I've seen) being 1983 MHz.
The problem occurs when I try to use the "OC mode" on the gaming app. The CPU (i7 6700k) is overclocked to 4.4 GHz, but for the GPU, instead of increasing the base clock to 1708 MHz like MSI's website said, the core clock speed is locked at 1683 MHz, which is the base clock speed for the card when using the "Gaming mode" on MSI's Gaming App.
Am I missing something and do I have to overclock the card manually in OC mode to get the settings to stick whenever I switch back and forth between the OC mode and Gaming mode for respective clock speeds?
Do I have to enable something in the BIOS to allow the OC mode to work?
Is there a driver I need to update? ( I just got this card not two weeks ago and have updated all drivers from both NVIDIA and MSI's websites, so I doubt this)
Or is the gaming app /and or/ Graphics card not working?
Note that I haven't manually overclocked or changed any settings in the BIOS, and I would like to first get the gaming app to work before immediately jumping ship and uninstalling the gaming app and applying a manual overclock through afterburner.
Please answer with detail
Thanks
