I am building my first ever computer and everything has gone well until I try to boot with the GPU installed.

My system is:

i7-7700k CPU
MSI Z270 Gaming M7 motherboard
MSI GTX 1080ti Gaming X GPU
EVGA Supernova 650 G3 PSU
Windows 10 Home 64-bit OS

I have been working on this issue for a couple days now. I Flashed the newest version of BiOS for my motherboard (downloaded from MSI Support page). Other then that I am new to building and I can't seem to find any more resources on this issue.

Solution

I know it was something simple.

That was my next recommendation if you hadn't done it yet.

When the GPU is installed in any of the PCIe slots with the two 8-Pin power connectors installed. I will power up the system and there will be no video output (monitor detects HDMI plug in but goes into power saver mode). All fans spin and the LEDs come on. GPU fans will spin for a couple seconds but then stop.

Not at the moment, no. I am upgrading from a computer that is about 7 years old. I suppose I could pull the GTX 650ti out of that tomorrow to check it out.

Thanks for your help but I seem to have solved the issue. I removed the RAM and the GPU. Reset CMOS using the button on the motherboard. Reinstalled the components and fired it up plugged into the HDMI slot on the GPU.
