So, I just got the msi GTX 650 Ti 2GB version and after installing it there is absolutely no signal going to the monitor. The system is booting however since if I switch the cable to the integrated gpu it works, even with the GTX plugged in. I looked around for a solution but was unable to find any. So even if I try to boot with the cable plugged into the GTX it won't show anything on screen and yet boot. If I change to the integrated gpu at any time during this it works, as if nothing happened.

Components:
Motherboard : ASUS M2N68 - AM SE2
CPU : AMD Athlon II X2 245 ~2.9GHz
RAM : 2 x 2 GB 800 MHz DDR2
Old GPU : 9800GT 512MB
New GPU : GTX650 Ti 2 GB
PSU : Inter-Tech SL-700 700W

I have reseated it several times, I did plug the 6-pin power connecter(tried both of the PSU and with the adapter). I tried to uninstall any remaining drivers(my old gpu was a 9800GT), tried a CMOS reset(both by loading defaults and taking the battery out), tried running it with only 1 stick of RAM, tried unplugging the HDD leaving only the SSD, tried unplugging the soundcard, tried running it without the 6-pin. My BIOS is set-up to have PCI-E as the first priority, the board does not support UEFI so I have no legacy drivers option, it doesn't have secure boot, only quick boot which i have disabled.

I am really running out of ideas, any new ones would be greatly appreciated.

Solution
So you are using a straight VGA cable from the card to the monitor? Can you test the card in someone else machine? PCIe is backwards compatible, but I had issues with my PCIe 3.0 card in my 2.0 board. Went away when I upgraded my system to 3.0 all the way around. (didn't try a bios upgrade first though.) I'm pretty sure your board is PCIe 1.0, and it might be having issues understanding 3.0.

Bios is updated to the latest available. And I'm trying to send signal through VGA as it's all I've got now. As far as I know PCI-E is backwards-compatible, but I could be wrong. Hope that's not the case though. I will try to find other motherboard to test but it's kinda hard at the moment.

Unfortunately VGA is all I can test right now as I'm staying in a dorm and I don't really have anything besides my VGA monitor. The GPU isn't recognized in any way as far as i can tell. I tried installing drivers while using the integrated drivers yet it wasn't detected.

Solution
I'd try to find a friend or someone with an hdtv and an hdmi cable. I had the same problem with my first build all of a sudden my monitor stopped working but luckily I was hooking it to my tv anyway and once I switched from vga to Hdmi the picture came up just fine.

I tend to agree about the PCIe problem. I'll try to test it on a different PC and see if it works.

In my case the monitor has never seen signal from the card, so I'd say it's either a PCIe problem or a faulty card, or who knows...about HDMI, I think I'd have a pretty hard time trying to find someone using them around here...

My 3.0 card worked ok in my old 2.0 board, but I had an odd hang up EVERY day. It was random. Every now and then I'd get two in a day. When I upgraded to my current 3.0 board the hang up went away. It SHOULD have worked. It mostly did if you ignore the odd issue I had. Sucks, but at least the problem is gone.
