Some friend of friend told me he underclocked his MSI GTX 660 with 50Mhz and says he got better performance (He said this is a "MSI Secret"). Now I think this is complete bs but does anyone know about this?
its possible if he has his core clock up too high the card starts throttling due to bouncing off the temp limit or power target limit. otherwise no, slower core means slower speed.
the gtx 660 can actually work better if you underclock it. mine(evga geforce) runs 1171/3004 stock. but even on stock settings it will end up throttling itself to 751/821. that a 35% underclock all on it's own. running it lower will make it run steady and not throttle itself.
