MSI gtx 970 black screen crash

I recently purchased an MSI gtx 970 and installed it in my system. However, I am having problems with it because whenever I put it under load (playing a GPU intensive game like the witcher 3 for a couple of minutes), my PC completely shuts down and requires me to do a hard reboot. I have already done a clean install of the drivers, updated the bios, and re seated the card multiple times but to no avail.

I think it might be a power supply problem (my PSU is a corsair cx500m) but I really don't know. Has this happened to anybody else??

Most likely the PSU is failing. The CX series is notorious for this issue.

yep, it seems that it was a power supply issue, I installed a new, higher quality psu and it works perfectly now.
