Hi i just overclocked my gtx 970 and wanted to ask if it was a safe oc (like that my vram wont burn or something)
Core Voltage +87
Power Limit 110%
Temp limit 85 C
Core Clock +200
Memory Clock +500
Fan speed auto (do i need to change this?)
What do you guys think?

Solution
Coil whine could also be caused by a crappy power supply. What power supply do you have? And i have heard that a lot of 970s have a problem with coil whine.
Does it stay cool? Have you run benchmarks or something to make sure its stable? If so then it should be good. Personally i would tr=urn down the memory overclock a bit maybe to 300, it doesn't add much in terms of performance and can get the VRAM chips a bit warm.

well i just runned 3d mark and my pc made weird noices really weird noises
like high sounds. idk what coil whine sounds like but its a high sound probably the fans but im not shure normally i dont hear that .

First, try it with no core clock change but max the voltage, TDP and temp sliders. Maxwell cards usually do a good job of overclocking themselves safely when you just change those settings.

If you have Samsung ram, 3900-4000 is stable. If you have Hynix ram, 3700-3800 or so is the stability limit.

Yah thats probably coil whine or inductor noise, turn down the voltage and the core clock a bit and see if it stops.

accedently clicked on best solution xP its the graphics card that makes the noise but why do people hate it ? i almost didnt notice it xD i got cm g550m i know not the best power supply but he didnt make the noise.

my temps where really cool 73C peak for gpu
the cpu had a hard time with 91 C peak ! dang but its a stock cooler so it makes sense :/
i will reduce the voltage to +50 and try again

Yah thats a good idea. And it doesn't matter if your psu isn't making noise its what supplies power to the gpu and if its supplying fluctuating dirty power that can very easily cause coil whine. And get a cpu cooler, your cpu is probably throttling at 91c that will reduce performance.

I putted everything back on stock and everytime i open 3Dmark 11 its having coil whine ... well that wasnt my best idea to oc

And when i have the money i will buy a 212 evo or something :)

Are you sure there was no coil whine before the OC? Load up a game or something you were playing before you did the oc and see if it has coil whine were it didn't before.

Oops nvmmm i dont hear anything anymore. ill only overclock if the coil whine isnt really bad anymore because it kept getting worse xD
