I recently bought a duplicate MSI GTX 980 4g that was faulty as spares and repairs as the fan on my current gpu had a blade missing. Even although it wasn't affecting it in any way temperature and performance wise it was still bugging my happiness and I believe the imbalance would eventually cause issues. So I have swapped over the heatsink and fan no issues, but I'm tempted to try and get the GPU working as a small project.
So all the caps seem to be fine, but around two microchips which are labelled U19 and U21 there seems to be some heat dissipation damage. It also smells burnt around that area. Has anyone had experience replacing and resoldering these, and if so where did you buy the replacement parts? Thank you for taking the time to read this. My specs if anyone is interested, reason behind the specs are 3 years ago I decided to build a pc from scratch using 2nd hand/broken parts for under £250.
