Read your motherboard manual it will tell you exactly where to put the ram modules in but as far as i know you will only be putting the ram in either both the black slots or the the white slots.

I agree with you generally on reading MB manual. However, MSI manual for this MB is not very helpful on ram installation.

Looks like the manual has a picture of slots 2 and 4 being filled if you only have 2 sticks of RAM. I don't think it really matters in the end though.
