I have a Zotac GTX 980 Ti Amp Extreme and seasonic G750.

Is the i5 4690 noticably better than i5 4590?

Btw Can I go with i5 4690 and the H87 ? Would I be able to turn the pc on? H87 has better ethernet.

Would I gain any fps by getting the H97? I don't want M.2 and raid...

Thanks

Solution
Yes, that is true, but the Gigabyte is a better quality board. Plain and simple. Better BIOS features, better quality components (capacitors), more stable, better power phasing. It is 100% the BETTER motherboard.

If we were talking about the H87 and H97 version of the SAME board, then yes they would be identical, but we aren;t. We are talking about a low end h87 board and a high end h97 board. There is no comparison at all. the Gigabyte H97 is MUCH better in all accounts. plain and simple.

Admirable
the 100 or 200MHz that the 4690 has over the 4590 wont benefit you, and both of those CPUs wont work out of the box with the h87 board, as it needs a BIOS update to work with them.

you wont get anymore FPS getting a different chipset.
get the 4590 and the h97.

H87 motherboards should work with a simple BIOS update. The difference between those CPUs are small, and not very noticeable. You won't gain any FPS with H97 over H87 but I would definitely get H97 to avoid any hassle with updating the bios

Hi Would I be able to turn on the pc to get the bios update with i5 4690 and MSI H87 G43 GAMING? And is there a way to cetify and to be sure that 4690 and h87 is working 100% fine?

Thanks again

Then why not just h87 + i5 4590? 100% Compatible right? But 4690 would give at least 2-3 fps right?

You 100% sure about that? But that's a 200Mhz Difference right?

So with what combination should we end this? H87 AND H97 ARE identical right? except m.2 and raid.

Well Tiny,

Why H97 ? I am not going to use M.2. or raid.. So why should I go for h97? Msi mobo got Killer E2205 and H97 Gaming 3 got E2201. Other stuff are pretty much the same.. So with what should we go. I might update H87 BIOS anyway. So mate please add if I am missing anything,..

Cheers!

The difference between those ethernet versions is absolutely nothing at all. They are identical and will be the same.

If you get an h87 board, that is perfectly fine. I just see no reason when the newer H97 boards cost the same.

Getting the 4590 is the RIGHT CPU top get. If the H87 board is noticeable cheaper than the h97 get it. If they are marginally the same, get the h97 as it is newer.

The prices are the same. Actually the h87 is but more expensive. But it looks way better than the gigabyte one. But why do you say to go with H97 if possible. I am curious....

Sri Lanka. I have watched in all trustworthy stores. This is what I could find. Actually newer technology? I have heard that h97=h87+M.2+Raid. Agree?

Would I be able to play GTA 5 on ultra ? 1080p. BTW this is future proof right?

Thanks. Best solution. Just looked at your Rig. Upgrade is nearby right?

No such thing as future proof. Doesn't exist. The PC will last for a while. Yes an i5 and a 980ti will easily max GTA V. No problem.

Nope, I have no need to upgrade anything. I am getting a new motherboard soon so I can overclock further, but my CPU is good for years to come. It will still max any game for a long time. No need to change that. the only thing I would do is upgrade my GPU and that will be coming in the next 6 months maybe.
