I have bought MSI H97 PC Mate motherboard which will arrive in a few days and one 16GB Kingston memory and now I am trying to find out if it will actually work or it only supports 8GB per slot. Can anyone help me out here? I know it supports up to 32GB, but can I combine 2x16 or only 4x8?

The MB supports up to 8GB per slot. Don't know what you mean by "one 16GB Kingston memory." 8GB per stick is the norm. Hopefully you will get a 2x8GB kit so you'll have dual channel.
The H97 PC Mate does not support 16 GB DIMM's I believe. Also, the 16 GB "server" Value RAM is 'registered' (RDIMM) which means it is incompatible with this motherboard. The H97 PC Mate supports standard UDIMM's (Unbuffered DIMM's) only.

If wanting 16 GB of RAM , then 2 x 8 GB UDIMM dual channel kit is recommended.
